Cybercrime

Computer crime (cybercrime) has many faces and can happen almost anywhere. Basically, it refers to any crime committed with the help of information and communication technology, that is, through computers, networks, or hardware devices. A computer or device is an agent, facilitator, or target of a crime.

Cybercrime includes, for example, the following offenses: computer fraud and fraud with the right to access communication services (identity theft), data forgery, deception in legitimate operations of data processing, data alteration, computer sabotage, espionage and interception of data .

Computer crime in the broader sense includes crimes committed via the Internet. These include: Phishing in the area of online banking, crimes related to DDoS attacks (Distributed Denial of Service, e.g., by overloading a corporate network so that the corporate website is no longer accessible on the Internet), digital blackmail, creation and distribution of hackers - use of tools for illegal purposes.

Criminals misuse the Internet and communication tools such as e-mail services or social networks to commit crimes. Almost all crimes are now also committed on or via the Internet. Drugs and weapons are sold in illegal online stores, as is hacking software, digital identities, stolen credit card data and access to bank accounts
